How to Achieve a Glossy Eye

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is simply stunning for the Violet Grey June cover story, Wet Hot Summer. The images are breathtaking, but it wasn’t her sultry red lips or blood red nails that caught my eye. Nope. It was the eye gloss, of course.

You know I love a good “wet” eye look, (remember the one at DVF?) and Rosie’s is pretty much perfect. Eye gloss is so easy to wear – if you know how to do it right. It all ties back to my skincare philosophy, that with beautiful clean skin, you don’t need much to look your best. Sporting an eye gloss is clean, sexy, bada** and cool all at the same time. Just make sure to skip the black liner and avoid it on a windy day. Also, a little goes a long way, so dab it on sparingly.

Now, when it comes to selecting your gloss, go for something that isn’t too sticky. If you want to know what the professionals use, the answer is clear – Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream (used on Rosie, obvi).  This award winning formula most definitely wins the MVP on set and off, for its multi-purpose capabilities that include healing cuts, scraps and burns, nourishing dry hands and cuticles, adding face “dew,” moisturizing lips, keeping eyebrows in place, cuticles perfect manicured, and well, the list goes on and on. It’s the secret that makeup artists all over the world use for keeping legs, lips and eyelids shiny. There’s a reason why makeup artists such as runway regular Pat McGrath and red-carpet king Troy Surratt use this ultra-moisturizing balm (it’s not really a cream) to create a “dewy, light-reflective” quality on the eyelids, but it can be applied anywhere you need a little extra glow.

Now let’s get down to business. Want to know how to get Rosie’s glossy eye, lips and nails included?? Well, I’ve got you covered:
