BLUE is having a majorelle moment…the luxe color is showing up on Fall 2013 runways on everything from hair (Givenchy!) to eyes (think Thakoon) to nails, of course. Inspired by both fall fashion and my summer weekends on the beaches of Montauk and Rhode Island, I decided to experiment with the blue hue color on my toes. The polish elevated my beachside look instantly and was just the extra something I needed. Lets face it, a floral swim cap is totally chic, but probably not the most practical (even though I am still dying over Givenchy’s).

Practically every counter is featuring their own version of bluesy-blues in their new (or existing) summer collections. You simply can’t miss Chanel’s new Bel-Argus (a beautiful metallic blue) and Chanel’s classic Blue Satin (a darker matte navy). I also love Dior’s Electric Blue, from last summer. The vivid, bright blue shade is sure to energize your summer look.

Ultimately, my favorite is Yves Saint Laurent La Laque Couture in Bleu Majorelle. It’s a gorgeous, creamy blue color and won Allure’s 2012 Best of Beauty award for the best bright nail polish. OK true, it’s not the newest color on the block, but it is formulated with rose oil and calcium to reinforce, protect and strengthen nails, and the color is seriously out-ra-geous! The brush is slightly wider so its super easy to apply and two coats create the perfect opacity.

Remember, when wearing colors so bold (on toes and nails) keep your nails short! I declare this color is the new neutral this summer, especially on the toes. It literally goes with everything and looks super chic with metallic sandals (or my new Lanvin flats)!
