Mist your Skin: The 5 Glowiest Beauty Elixirs

Ever since spring has sprung my Instagram feed has been overpopulated with pictures of peonies, poppy painted pouts and puppies in the park. This is all well and good, but no one is sharing the real truth of increasing temperatures: sweaty and sticky skin!

While offices, movie theatres and department stores may crank up the A.C. to the beat heat, the cooling effect simply stops the moment we step outside. Fortunately, through trial and error, I have discovered 4 skin saving elixirs (a fancier word for spray, mist or even tonic) that keep me glowing and prevent me from looking like a red angry bird. Not a good look…at all.

From keeping my makeup refreshed to preventing breakouts, these multi-purpose elixirs are just as convenient and helpful as they are cooling. Case in point: I spray these on before I get on the subway, while I am on the subway and the second I hop off the subway. As for another advantage for the girl on the go: these mini bottles don’t take up much space or spill in my bag!

So as your overheated neighbors watch you rejuvenate with envy, you can become the most popular girl (or guy) on public transportation by kindly offering them a spritz from any of the four elixirs below. In doing so you’ll be welcoming them into a whole new world, a significantly cooler and more radiant one. Who knows, you might even meet a new beauty-addicted buddy!

NUXE’s Refreshing Mist with Rose Petals

Ever walk through duty-free and swoon over the lines and lines of NUXE’s Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil? Well now, you have another product to fawn over: NUXES’s Refreshing Mist with Rose Petals. In addition to smelling like romance in a bottle, this brand new elixir embodies the properties of a toner, mist and makeup setter. Voila, a French fix with just a mist!

Aesop Immediate Moisture Facial Hydrosol

If you’re a frequent flyer (check out my travel essentials!), Aesop’s rose petal mist will combat the lack of moisture in any airline cabin.  The Melbourne based beauty line combines the best of both worlds by using “plant based and laboratory made ingredients.” This spray contains rose petal, bergamot peel and chamomile bud, all of which soothe stressed skin.

Claudalíe Beauty Elixir

This elixir was inspired by Queen Isabelle of Hungary’s elixir of youth. I guess if it’s good for a queen than it’s good for me. I first discovered this cult product at the Sephora checkout line and since then it has become the royal gem in my bathroom cabinet. Claudalíe’s concoction soothes fine lines and tightens pores, leaving you with a boost of radiance that rivals Queen Elsa’s.

Evian Mineral Water Spray

I consider this the original elixir! As a former tennis player who was sensitive to the heat, I distinctly remember packing this product in my tennis bag and using it religiously during water breaks. This affordable option, filled with hydrating water from the French Apls, balances and neutralizes your skin’s pH. It seems like a done deal for sensitive skin types since it seems to have worked for everyone and anyone—Game. Set. Match.

Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence

This super light moisturizing toner spray gives the complexion a fresh, dewy radiance. It’s 100% all natural, containing no alcohols or harsh astringents, so it’s wonderful for everyday use (AM and PM) and on top of makeup. The treatment is also great for anti-aging on the go. Just slip the mini 50 ml size into your purse and you are guaranteed to stay hydrated throughout the day!
