Dry skin is my least favorite thing. It makes your makeup caky and weird. The skin flakes off and the texture just isn’t as smooth. It can also lead to premature aging in the form of lines, wrinkles and lack of plumpness.
One of the best things you can do for your skin is to keep it constantly hydrated. It’s logical, the more water you give your skin, the plumper it is. Think of your skin like a grape. What happens when that grape doesn’t receive water anymore? It shrivels up and turns into a prune. Bleh.
While visiting Dr. Barbara Sturm a few weeks ago, she talked to me about one of her favorite ingredients, Hyaluronic Acid: “It aids in storing water under your skin. It [Hyaluronic Acid] takes in so much water, which of course is very important for hydration. I put it in every product. I think people are afraid of it because they hear ‘acid’ but it’s not an aggressive acid.”
Since trying her line, I began to realize the benefits of this turning-back-the-clock ingredient. From makeup to skincare to ingestibles, these are some of my favorite products that contain significant amounts of Hyaluronic Acid.
Mun’s Anarose Hydrating Rose Toner
When I sit at my computer researching and writing for long periods of time, I like to keep something hydrating nearby to spray on my face every so often. Mun’s Anarose Hydrating Rose Toner is my current obsession. The smell is really lovely, but not overtly rosy. It’s super cooling and helps to balance the skin’s pH, aka calm the skin. It’s made with Hyaluronic Acid and natural Salicylic Acid, which remove dead cells for that healthy G-l-O-W.
Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Sunscreen
This lightly tinted beauty balm is part SPF, part cream. It treats, hydrates, protects, primes and covers the skin. It’s supercharged with youth-promoting antioxidants that help scavenge surface free radicals. Hyaluronic acid, astaxanthin, red algae, aloe vera, jojoba, sunflower, pomegranate, cucumber, and green tea help provide additional sun protection and hydration. Boom.
Fountain: The Hyaluronic Molecule
Drink your way to better skin? Oh yes. This supplement is your ticket, in the form of a shot. This formula (that your bf/husband can use too!) is packed with Hyaluronic Acid that holds 1000 times its weight in water to plump your complexion, brighten your eyes and keep the body lubricated.
By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder
This colorless powder should be the last step in your makeup routine. Why? Well it controls oiliness, covers up any imperfections and hydrates. It’s blended with Hyaluronic Acid and silica microbeads to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and keep makeup in place. It also protects your skin from the gross stuff flying around in the air. Pure magic.
Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Ampoules
Dr. Barbara Sturm is clearly the H acid expert. This powerful anti-aging treatment contains an active complex of short and long-chained hyaluronic acid to provide both immediate and long-term effect. It’s one of my new essentials that I’m going to use every season.
I like this mask because you can sleep in it. Plus, no hydrating list is complete without Tata. This rose-scented master is saturated with hyaluronic acid to replenish dehydrated skin. It also helps your skin lock in moisture in the future, so you can develop that lit-from-within glow.
Perfect for anyone concerned about aging on their hands (aren’t we all?), Verso’s serum is formulated with Retinol 8 and hyaluronic acid to plump and perfect. The texture is light and creamy and it absorbs super quickly, too. I keep this guy by my bed.
This lip treatment is bomb. It adapts to your unique pH to hydrate your lips, giving them definition and natural color. It gives off the perfect shade of rosy pink that I would say is universally flattering. You really can’t go wrong with a pinky lip for the daytime.
111SKIN Meso Infusion Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C Micro Mask x 4
111SKIN’s is infused with hyaluronic acid to plump fine lines and diminish wrinkles, as well as antioxidant Vitamin C. The small size makes them perfect for travel. For the world’s best sheet mask, it’s a toss up between this and Sk-II’s. Try them both and let me know which one is your fave.
