Holiday Makeup: Cosmic Glitter Eyes

This month I am all about cosmic metallic beauty, shades that have evolved over the years from the standard gold and silver options to a now wider spectrum which includes rosy pinks, champagne, pearl and oyster to name a few. You can sport gold glittery nail a la Givenchy, glimmery eyes (over even brows like from Dior!) and glossy shimmering lips, but there is nothing that truly screams holiday makeup quite like gold glitter! What is it with girls and their love for glitter? You feel a bit like Kate Moss and give out that “I’m ready to PARRRRTY” vibe.

But the question remains, how do we actually wear glitter without feeling cheesy and how can we prevent it from getting everywhere? I remember Anna Sui’s SS15 show back in September, and I was really blown away by the gold glittery eye sitch created by Pat McGrath (duh) for the show. The skin was completely bare and fresh, which I love. In fact everything was bare, except for the eyes.

To create the look inspired by moons and stars and sparkles (how cute is that?!), just a touch of glitter was added on the top of the eyelids, underneath the eyes and in the corners. That’s it. This is how you can get this exact look at home using Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cosmetic Gold Glitter.

Step 1: After you have applied foundation and under eye concealer, move on to the eye. I like to apply Mac’s Painterly Paint Pot to create a nice and even blank canvas for the eyes. I apply using a domed shaped brush and blend all around the eyelid and below the eye (basically where you are going to apply glitter).

Step 2: Apply a dab of Too Faced Glitter Glue on ring finger, and carefully dab and blend onto the area of the eye where you are going to apply the glitter, on the upper eyelid, inner corner and under the eye. It’s like spirit gum. The more you tap it, the tackier it gets, so be careful!

Step 3: Spray a flat tipped brush, like Mac Shader Brush 242, with one of my all time favorite products, Mac Prep and Prime “Fix,” just enough to get the brush wet. Then dip the brush into the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cosmetic Gold Glitter (or even Make Up For Ever’s Metallic Tan Glitter), and start patting it on the eye. Remember pack it on – don’t swipe or wipe. Add the glitter on the top of the eyelids, underneath the eyes and a little in the corners.

Step 4: Apply clear mascara or brow gel to the lashes and the brows, using something like Maybelline’s Clear Mascara for definition and a sexy wet lash look. I am obsessed with clear mascara these days, as you can see here.

You can follow the look up with a little RMS Beauty Living Luminzer and a glossy plumping lip gloss. How pretty is this?! Happy Holiday partying!!
