Mimi Hoesley is just your average girl…Well, except for the fact that she is stunningly beautiful (like, model quality), a soon-to-be Columbia Business School grad (which makes her a total smarty-pants), a complete beauty junkie (just like me!) and a seriously hilarious girl that just wants to have fun.

After graduating from U Penn, Mimi worked at Bond No. 9 and Batallure Beauty, more than just dipping her toes in the vast world of beauty. With the street cred that she will earn from her business school degree and her fabulous credentials and experience, the possibilities are endless for this au natural beauty loving babe.

We played around with my new – looks amazing on everyone – Armani lipstick.

For the shoot, the makeup used was: Whip Hand Set the Stage Makeup Primer, Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Crème, Dior Lip Glow, Diorshow Iconic, YSL Dessin du Regard Eye Pencil in Velvet Black, Essie Geranium and Armani Rouge D’Armani Lipstick in 303. Mimi wore JBrand Super Skinny Jeans and her blouse by Dusen Dusen from Myth & Symbol. Special thanks to Beth Garrabrant and Hannah Kelly for allowing us to shoot in their amaz apt!

Annie: Describe your morning and evening beauty routine regime, start to finish.

Mimi: In the morning, I use the Clarisonic Mia to wash my face, then Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum, followed by a light moisturizer with SPF (I have so many so I just switch them up—currently I’m using Estee Lauder Time Zone SPF 15). I just started using the Shiseido BB Crème and it’s incredible. At night I do the same routine but with Shiseido Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizer Cream. If I’m not too lazy, I’ll use also use SKII Facial Treatment Essence and Lancome Genefique Eye concentrate.

AA: Day makeup vs. night makeup. What products do you use? Fragrance?

MH: For day, Diorshow Iconic Mascara in Black, Chapstick and maybe Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder if I’m super pale. I like the Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush because the bristles are blond.

At night, I usually use a tiny bit of Giorgio Armani Blushing Fabric Second Skin Blush (Color 2) on my lips and Dior Lip Glow on top. I also use MAC lipstick in Lady Danger or So Chaud. For eyes, either YSL Dessin du Regard Eye Pencil in Velvet Black or Smashbox Paint Pen Eye Liner in Jet Black. It’s so easy to apply! Oh, and lots of Diorshow Iconic.

In terms of fragrance, I wear Bond No. 9 Nuits de Noho or Chinatown. I also love Wall Street—it’s amazing on men and women.

AA: Tell me about your hair. Your have the perfect strawberry blond, what products do you use and where do you go for cut and color?

For the record – the day that I shot Mimi, she had just come from her hair color appointment, and I legit commented that her hair “sparkled,” the blond is soooo perfect. Its kinda beyond.

MH: I’ve never thought of myself as a strawberry blond! I’ve been seeing Sija at Damian West forever for color. For cut, I go to Sang at Hair Osh– it’s $60 and he’s meticulous.

I have really fine and dry hair so I’m always trying to get more volume. I use the Kerastase Volumactive Shampoo and Conditioner.  For special occasions, I use Philip B Russian Amber Shampoo and no conditioner. It’s super expensive but so worth it! for even more volume, Kerastase Volumactive Mousse and Bumble and bumble’s Hair Powder are total life-savers. When I don’t wash my hair I put Moroccan Oil at the ends to keep it from drying out. I’m also obsessed with my T3 hair dryer and Mason Pearson brush.

AA: Regular manicure or shellac/ gel?

MH: Regular. Essie Geranium and Lollipop are my favorite go-tos or Deborah Lippman for more fun colors, especially Lady Sings the Blues and Across the Universe. This winter I’ve been wearing Chanel Vertigo a lot—it’s a perfect dark grey.

AA: What are your top beauty rules? What do you live by?

MH: Lots of sleep and naps if possible, I wash my hair 2-3 times a week and blow-dry only when necessary, as much water and lotion, cream, and moisturizer as I can manage, I keep Chapstick in every bag and last but not least, I eat VitaCraves Gummies every day.

AA: In your last semester at Business school, things must be pretty hectic. What are your instant tips for looking good and feeling fresh?

MH: School can be really busy—there is always something to do! So for me it’s about feeling fresh more than looking good. I like to work from home so a clean apartment, fresh flowers and woody, black-wax candles (my favorites are Byredo Bohemia and Biblioteque and Nest Two O’Clock) are necessities. For de-stressing, I rely on yoga and baths. Ortigia bath salts smell incredible and the packaging is so pretty! And last, for puffy eyes, I put a spoon in the freezer for a few minutes and then apply the back to my eyes.

AA: You spent the fall semester studying abroad in London. What can you tell us about the British approach to beauty? Did you pickup any interesting tips or products while you were overseas?

MH: In London I spent most of my time with my ridiculously low maintenance sister-in-law so my take on the British approach is minimalism—with the exception of weekly over-priced manicures! But I do love browsing the Boots on High St Kensington and playing with nail polish at the Nails Inc salon at Harvey Nichols. Actually one of my favorite new products was introduced to me by my Kiwi friend, Ana. Le Tan SPF 30 Coconut Spray is the most amazing-smelling sunscreen ever!

AA: You are a vegetarian. Tell me about when and why you made this decision. How do you think this affects the way you look and feel?

MH: I stopped eating meat and fish in high school just because I didn’t like it! I definitely eat healthier now that I’m learning to cook and trying to eat more natural foods, but I’m also addicted to chocolate and Haribos, so I may not be the best person for diet advice! I think it’s about knowing what you need and what you can live without.

AA: Drugstore beauty. What are your favorite products?

MH: Milani eyeliner pencil, Organix Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner, Dove Sensitive Skin body wash, Cetaphil body moisturizer, Anthelios sunscreen for face.

AA: Where do you find your beauty inspiration? What are favorite magazines? Blogs? Websites? Who is your ultimate beauty icon or inspiration?

MH: I would say my beauty inspiration comes from my friends, the Barneys beauty department (especially By Terry, Deborah Lippmann, and the best assortment for skincare and candles), Sunday Styles, WWD, and Net-a-Porter. Oh, I love my favorite NYC boutique, Dagny and Barstow — they carry amazing European designers, cult beauty brands and the BEST accessories. I also read Vanity Fair, New Yorker, Elle, Goop, The Cut and NYMag.com (the cut!) on a regular basis. Gwyneth is my ultimate beauty icon. Love her glossy hair and skin—and she looks ridiculous for 40! I’m also obsessed with Margot Tenenbaum…
