I need an entire month to dedicate to concealer, what I consider to be the holy grail of cosmetic products. Today, I will tell you what is on my top shelf—and I’ve tried them all. Before application, I apply toner, serum, lotion, and a generous amount of eye cream, and then wait five to ten minutes before moving on. This allows your lotions and potions to set and assures proper absorption into the skin. When ready to apply, I dot concealer around the inner corners of my eyes, and gently blend under the eye using my ring fingers. I also apply around my nose, where redness occurs and blend down into my smile lines. A great cover-up can be used on the lips and eyelids as a primer or to take down redness. During the day, I only use concealer and a lipstick or gloss.
#1 Cle de Peau Concealer is PERFECTION. It comes in a sleek, deep midnight blue lipstick-sized container, which is convenient for even the smallest of clutches. It isn’t cheap, but will last you forever. The creamy formula glides on silky smooth and becomes like second skin. Because this product is packed with moisture, it is ideal for the colder months when your skin is slightly drier than normal. I use the Ivory.
#2 There’s a reason why many consider Laura Mercier the concealer queen. Her Secret Camouflage is an original and one of my all time favorite products. Note: this product is perfect for the summer, when my skin is oilier than usual. I found that during the winter months, the cream would dry out my skin and make my imperfections more noticeable. The powder is great, because it can be used over any concealer.
#3 ByTerry Touche Veloutee Concealer is one of my most recent purchases. I had always been a fan of YSL’s Touche Éclat and Dior’s Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen so when my sister Kate told me that she heard Kim Kardashian uses By Terry’s Concealer, I thought, “hello, let’s give it a shot!” I’m head over heels. This chic pen works magic on your skin. Literally, no more makeup is needed. It blends perfectly into the finest lines around your eyes and nose, and works to cover imperfections giving that glowy, light reflecting dewiness that I die for. I use the porcelain.
