After seeing for myself the amazing red color that was created (by latest Glow Girl, Danielle) by a mix of Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Train Bleu (a deep aubergine) and Dragon Girl (a vivid siren red), I was inspired to try a little mixing myself. Makeup is supposed to be a fun expression of yourself, so why not experiment? I often mix my foundations, so I thought it’s about time that I start playing with my lipstick. I’m all about mixing an oil with an eye cream for better application, like I did here using RMS Beauty Oil and the “Un” Cover-Up Concealer, or my foundation with an illuminator for flawless skin. So why not mix and match when it comes to the lips? Why not create something that is unique to you?

Danielle’s red mix creates the perfect matte, sultry red, so I was inspired to go for pink when mixing it up myself. It just so happens that I recently discovered Bite Beauty Matte Créme Lip Crayon, and let me say, they are TO DIE FOR. You need them and you need them in multiple colors for chicest mix and match possibilities.

There are six shades. From left to right, Sweety (coral pink), Kumquat (pink grapefruit), Satsuma (fuschia pink), Clementine (citrus orange), Blood Orange (electric citrus red) and Grape (muted violet) which isn’t pictured. Upon first glance, I thought, ‘these might be too pigmented and bright for my pale complexion,’ but what I found was just the opposite. The colors are actually SO flattering! They are also super moisturizing and formulated with citrus peel wax for a hydrating matte finish, and a super subtle citrus scent.

After a few rounds of trial and error, I got it just right. Apply Satsuma (the fuschia pink) on your bottom lip, and Sweety (the coral pink) on your top lip, and press your lips together. The result is this super electric, vivid shade that is oh so perfect for both day and night. If you want to take it to the next level, or you are not a fan or the matte look, apply a gloss on top. I used Laura Mercier Lip Glaće in Cosmic, a clear gloss with a hint of shimmer, on my Cupid’s bow and the center of my bottom lip. Apply gloss, and gently purse your lips. The effect is unreal.

Tired of your lips looking like they have taken a winter beating? Repair your pretty pout with Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. I like to sleep in mine, because honestly, why not? Overnight repair is a must. I first discovered this mask when researching my Model Off Duty Beauty post, and learned that many of the models you know and love swear by this lip savor. It can be used as a traditional mask overnight, or as a heavy duty lip balm. Get your lips ready for spring with this moisturizing wonder.
