Vacation Skin Like Whoa: The Best Travel Beauty Tip Ever

Does your skin freak out when you need it to glow most? Skin can go haywire while on the plane or in a new climate, so I am always on the hunt for an effective travel beauty tip like this one. And it comes just in time, as I am currently packing my beauty kit and departing tomorrow for an (almost) month long jaunt! I am headed to Rome, Tuscany, London and then Zurich, so do not forget to follow along with me on Instagram and Snapchat! I will be sharing the best and most beauty moments from beauty to travel to design inspiration and more.

And here is one of my favorite natural beauty tips (including pics from my trip to Botswana in August), perfect for travel, that I even shared for a story not too long ago on The Chalkboard Magazine.

Vacation is the ultimate escape. Whether it’s a weekend jaunt to the beach with friends, wine tasting in Napa or an African safari, vacation is the time to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit. It gives you the chance to leave the stress and worries of your real life and focus on the present. When these good vibes are flowing, it feels like nothing can bring you down – except bad skin. The triggers can be anything: changes in climate, dehydrating airplanes, altitude or even the foods you eat while away from home. Luckily there’s a solution: the face mask.

The key to enhancing that vacation glow is to bring along masks that are gentle enough to use daily. Consistent use will help keep your skin in check as you experience new places. So, on your next trip, make room in your suitcase for a solid face-mask regimen. If you are looking for your new mask go-to, check out the list below to get inspired by the best of the best.

Tata Harper Honey Blossom Resurfacing Mask
Vermont-harvested raw honey is the key ingredient in this limited-edition beta-hydroxy resurfacing mask. It works like a traditional peel to provide an instant solution for dull skin – without causing downtime or irritation. This baby delivers instant glow, minimizes the appearance of pores and improves the appearance of the skin’s texture for smooth, dewy skin.

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask
This is the perfect solution and instant fix for stressed-out skin. Come prepared with this detoxifying mask that draws out accumulated toxins from clogged pores to revitalize and invigorate the complexion. It’s great to use before a night out or after a flight. It is enriched with grape marc to detoxify, pink clay and coffee to clarify and papaya enzymes for immediate radiance. You can also use it as a spot treatment to zap the unexpected blemish.

Joanna Vargas Exfoliating Mask
Favored by Julianne Moore and Gucci Westman, this gentle exfoliant can be used in one of two ways: as a quick facial scrub or a 15-minute exfoliating treatment. Regular exfoliation is very important – especially when we want to look our best. I like this mask because it’s a hard worker. Lactic acid gently breaks the bonds of dead skin cells to kill germs and bacteria. Kaolin clay draws out impurities and decongests the pores, and fruit enzymes (a great source of vitamin C) boost cell turnover and brighten the skin.

Dr. Jart+ Vital Hydra Solution
The hallmark of the Korean skincare routine is the sheet mask, which makes this mask the perfect must-have. Dr. Jart+ just launched a whole line of sheet masks, so why not take one sheet for each night you are away? Packed with nourishing ingredients, this mask serves up a super dose of softening moisture to minimize irritation. The formula features aloe vera and botanicals that instantly soothe the skin. It’s perfect for getting that pre-party glow.

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask
There’s a reason that Gucci Westman and Cate Blanchett are devoted to this radiance and moisture packed sheet mask – its because it’s the best. I love it too for it leaves your skin looking better than ever.  It’s all about the pitera here – that famous ingredients that fuses the skin with vitamins, amino acides, minerals and organic acids to leave you looking radiant. As a bridal skincare ritual, the Japanese like to soak Facial Treatment Masks everyday for more than 90 days prior to the wedding day. Wedding or no wedding – it’s a must own.

Gorgeous photos. Your trip must have been amazing.
You read my mind, I needed to find something this weekend to treat my pores, now I have options to purchase whilst out of town! Thank you.

Aww thank you so much! No words can describe how incredible the trip was…it opened my eyes to a whole new world and helped me realize how important it is to protect the environment. I’ve posted many more pictures on Instagram (@shesintheglow). Definitely go check it out, as well as check up constantly because I will be posting more pictures of my Euro trip for the next couple weeks. xoxo

  • Lovely pictures! It really gets me thinking that I need to go on a holiday soon. I couldn’t agree with you more though; trips and airplanes usually freak my skin out! My holy grail for this is First Aid Beauty’s Oatmeal mask as it just soothes and calms down everything, which is especially useful when the skin can flare easily during holiday. You have an amazing selection and I want to try out the Tata Harper mask listed!

I love First Aid products, especially their hand cream. That is my go-to hand cream on the plane. Love stocking up on this when I visit Sephora. You have to try Tata Harper’s mask. It’s quite pricey, but I promise, every scoop of the mask is worth every penny. You’ll see results fast. It’s a vanity staple!

  • Hello! Very useful tips here, thanks for sharing them with us. It is often difficult to choose the products to get when traveling. We also list SKII Facial Treatment mask as a must-own 😉 Looking forward to browsing your pictures of your next journeys!

Yes! I am currently obsessed with facial mask right now. I don’t know why it took me so long to include this step in my nighttime skincare routine.

Thank you! Keep your travel beauty bag light with these essentials. No need to carry around a heavy makeup bag when you have a flawless face.

  • Thanks for the tips. When I went to Aruba, I had to be very careful on the products I used on my face as well – http://www.lovelysharice.com

The climate change is the biggest problem on vacation. I travel a lot whether international or domestic. I’ve tested so many travel products throughout the years and these travel beauty essentials are currently my fav. Climate change got nothing on my skin when I have these power tools.
