Do you find yourself with dark circles no matter how much sleep you get?

OK, so like you, I had always been under the assumption that lack of sleep, poor hydration or binge drinking – aka a typical weekend –  all can cause the skin to become more pale, resulting in darkness around the eyes…but apparently, it’s not the main reason. According to determatologists, genetics is the most likely culprit causing chronic dark circles. Of course its true that fatigue makes skin dull, drinking alcohol dehydrates and thins the skin and allergies, aging, and bone structure are all remain contributing factors.

I spoke with my go-to skincare guru Talya Taylor, who I literally adore – integral member of Dangene’s Institute of Skinovation (who I owe my life to and whom Jessica Stam is also a fan) – and she passed along some serious solutions.

Talya recommends a strict combo of vitamin infused oxygen and LED light therapy. Oxygen therapy is a noninvasive treatment that delivers serums composed of antioxidants, amino peptides and nano-hydraters to the skin through oxygen to moisturize, and super hydrate the skin immediately – leaving skin elasticized, looking and feeling younger with a firming visible lift. LED lights stimulate gradual healing by increasing blood circulation and lymphatic activity. Both treatments are available at the Dangene’s Institute of Skinovation.

If treatment isn’t for you, Talya suggested using products that contain oxygen, or vitamins C and K, which building collagen.

Talya recommends three products that she actually uses and loves. Circ-Cell Blood Serum Rejuvenating Eye Gel uses oxygen-rich ingredients to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine line, dark circles and puffiness. “A healthy blood supply is critical in delivering oxygen, purging carbon dioxide and metabolic waste, keeping cells nourished, and maintaining vibrant, healthy skin.” Talya also suggested Sanitas Vita K, which is formulated with Vitamins K and E, Horse Chestnut and Rutin to reduce dark circles under the eyes (as well as speed the healing of bruises). Vita K is specifically geared towards strengthening blood cells, reducing any discoloration. Lastly, Korres Wild Rose Instant Brightening Eye Treatment reduces darkness while adding brightness which is always major.

For those needing a few quick tips:

Apply two chilled tablespoons from the refrigerator and apply on the eyes for few seconds, until they are warm. Re-apply if necessary. A great concealer can cover anything…and I have many recommendations.   Make sure to apply your foundation first and then the concealer, patting it into skin using your ring finger. Lastly, use mascara that won’t smudge under your eyes. Dior Show is the best and it will not budge!  It lasts all day.
