How to pack for the Amalfi

This week I can hardly control my excitement. In just 6 days I’m headed to Positano for a friend’s glam wedding. In the meantime, I’ll be doing my very best to channel my inner Jane Birkin. I’m thinking white ethereal dresses, straw hats and basket totes. So feminine and summery, right? But before I get carried away on the fashion front, I have to pause and plan my beauty bag. Once I landed on my Jane Birkin inspo, the beauty look took care of itself — rose gold skin with a natural, dewy finish and maybe a pop of color here and there.

Admittedly, this look is a tad tricky for us pale-skinned girls. I’ve been trying my very best to avoid the sun this summer, so it’s kind of difficult to suddenly get that bronzed glow. After all, I really don’t want to be covered in sunspots come September (my wedding month – ah!). So to make this happen for my trip, I need products that simultaneously protect my skin and create a nice glow. In other words, I need multi-taskers and eye-catchers.

This is what I plan on toting around all week long on my Italian adventure (don’t forget to follow me on snapchat @anabel_atkinson):

Prep with the Vitamin C Brightening System

Ole Henriksen’s new Power Bright 3-step system is amazing. It gives you professional strength intensive brightening using 25% Citamin C Concentrate. It couldn’t be easier to apply and skin is left plump and glowing. You can really amp up the results by using it up to 3 times a week.

All Over Sunscreen with a Hint of Coverage

AmorePacific just launched two really awesome SPFs that are quite amazing. The Sun Protection Cushion SPF 30 is in fact one of the best cushion compacts that I’ve ever tried. It gives you the best skin ever by leaving you glowing, not greasy. I also love the Sun Protection Stick. It makes sunscreen application super easy and stress-free.

Non-Oily Face SPF

My favorite all over face SPF is by Tatcha. It’s SPF 35 btw. I love the pretty blue packaging but beyond that, the ingredients are naturally sourced from Japan. Plus, it’s uber practical and boasts super easy application.

Kick-A$$ Illuminators

Tata Harper just launched a new Illuminating line, which consists of a skin-tightening moisturizer and a collagen-building eye cream, excites me more than you can imagine. Both of these will be great, because I won’t want to be wearing a lot of makeup, but I still want to look glowy.

Minimalist Makeup

For makeup, I’ll be packing all my RMS pods because they’re quick, easy and effective. I have listen my favorites here. I just want to keep things fresh and clear. As a base and for added SPF, I’ll be wearing Omorovicza’s BB Cream. For the lips, I am really into Chosungah 22’s new Dual Lip Gloss & Tints. Each luscious color is great, so you really can’t go wrong. OH – Linda Rodin just launched lipsticks. She created 5 perfect colors and they are bottled up in quite possibly the chicest packaging yet.

Wipes and Blotting Papers

I always travel with wipes. Klorane Makeup Remover Biodegradable Wipes with Soothing Cornflower are my favorites because they don’t irritate the skin and are inexpensive. I’ll also be packing Tatcha Japanese Blotting Papers, because they take up no room whatsoever and they prevent any unexpected grease moments.

Blush, Bronzer and a Pop of Green

By Terry’s new Flash and Cruise part blush, part bronzer just screams Italy. It has six shades – including three blushers – which can be blended or used separately to contour, brighten, sculpt and correct. Plus, they are so easy to travel with. And while you are at it, channel 1970s Capri and add a pop green liner, like this one from Nars, onto the upper and lower lids.

Hair Primer

I’m really into Shu Uemura’s multi-tasking Air Dry/Blow Dry Multi-Tasking Primer. It’s great when you want to make the effects of the ocean last in your hair. It’s great for smooth styles, the air dried look and blowouts. To finish it, I love Shu Uemura’s Essence Absolute, which provides UV protection for your locks.
