The tradition toner is used by most of us, almost like an afterthought – to remove any leftover makeup or residue from the day and prep the skin for more exciting products like serums, creams and moisturizers. But, there is something next-level about the latest generation of “toners,” that most definitely exceed what was formerly known as a glorified eye-makeup remover – for the face.

I am talking about products like Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir, Tata Harper’s Hydrating Floral Essence and my most recent love, Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. What do all these products – what I consider to be the legit best of the best – have in common? What don’t they do?! They moisturize, tone, smooth and help create a glowing and dewy complexion. YES.

Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir is one of my fav of all fav French pharmacy finds, which I keenly observed was a staple in just about every make-up artist’s kit. Even Gwyneth and model Abbey Lee are serious fans. This classic beauty must-have was inspired by Queen Isabelle of Hungary’s elixir of youth. Hints of grape, orange blossom, rose, mint and rosemary smooth away fine lines, tighten pores and give the complexion an instant boost of radiance.

TIP: I use the elixir to assist in the foundation/ tinted moisture application. After my entire skincare routine, I dap on my foundation or tinted moisturizer onto my cheeks, forehead and chic and immediately before blending, I spray the elixir liberally onto my face and then blend, allowing perfect absorption.

As you know, I am a die-hard Tata Harper fan, and her Hydrating Floral Essence is just one of the many reasons. This super light moisturizing toner spray gives the complexion a fresh, dewy radiance. This 100% all natural spray contains no alcohols or harsh astringents and it is wonderful for everyday use (AM and PM) and on top of makeup.

My latest and most jaw-droppingly insane find is by Tatcha. Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is super delicate and just like Caudalie and Tata’s versions, can be used day and night, before serum and moisturizer as well as before and after makeup. When researching about this Japanese based brand, I learned the history behind their particular mist. “For centuries, Japanese geisha have used the facial waters of plants extracts to nourish their flawless complexions. Distilled from cherished botanicals, these facials water would be applied with perfume misters for a refreshing boost of weightless hydration, creative an alluring glow.”
