I am effing inspired by the blurred lines seen on the lips at the Marni Fall 2013 show. The color of the Marni blurred lip, described as “dried blood,” would have been quite bold if applied in a traditional manner, carefully staying in the lip lines, and possibly traced with a lip liner – but this lip was different. It’s genius. The soft application of color creates a look that’s almost out of focus. It’s the perfect solution for those who are scared of a super dark lip or who want to try something edgy and modern. The key to achieving the Marni blurred lip is blending. Make sure to choose a creamy lipstick formula, apply color in the center of the lips and blend outward using your finger or a Q-tip.

For those of you interested… at Marni Makeup artist Tom Pecheux used MAC Lipmix in CrimsonMAC Lipstick in Hang-up, and MAC Pro Pigment in Basic Red.

I’m buying these today, obviously. Love Marni and its blurred lines.
