Although I had temporarily sworn off “dry products,” like my super dark bronzers or powder blushes, in favor of a liquid only (or mainly) beauty routine, I ultimately decided that I needed something to finish my look for both day and night. Honestly, I am so over that whole uber tan, caked on bronzer look, and I have never used a traditional “powder,” so on my most recent quest to find the perfect solution, I wasn’t even exactly sure what I was looking for. Speaking of bronzer, I don’t even care if I look slighter paler that the girl next to me – I would rather my skin look perfect.
My prayers were answered by cult fav brand Hourglass. Although the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer has long been one of my top shelf staples, I was fairly unfamiliar when it came to the rest of their line.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are a newly launched collection of six “finishing powders” that recreate the most exquisitely flattering light. Seriously, these powders diffuse and soften the way light is reflected on your skin, brightening and concealing imperfections, pores and wrinkles. Your skin appears younger, even-toned and radiant. UM – ok sooo what more would we want? Oh, like all Hourglass products, these powders are free of parabens, talc, fragrance, nano-particles and gluten…so basically, this is right up my alley (with my new fascination on using more natural products)!
I will use my Ambient Powder as the finishing touch in my makeup routine, just a light dust over my foundation or tinted moisturizer is all I need. I choose Mood Light, which is soft, sheer lavender pink that “mimics the softest most forgiving light and reveals your brightest complexion.” I love the dewy glow that it gives me, and more importantly, it reduces some of the shine than occurs from not wearing any powder.
I also got involved in this marvelous little double-ended Complexion Brush. The smaller size is perfect for blending my concealer and foundation…and the larger side for my new Ambient Powder. The multi-functional brushes have caps so they are always protected, especially when I toss them into my bag for a little glow-on-the-go. You can use the brushes wet or day…and of course, made from PETA-approved bristles. BOOM.
