I’m sure you’ve heard the news that Christian Louboutin, sky-high heels god, has recently ventured into beauty – the nail arena to be exact.
Ironically enough, nail polish helped Christian come up with the signature crimson sole of his shoes back in the good ole’ 90’s. When he was working on an early prototype, he felt something was off, and tried painting the sole of the shoe with his assistant’s red nail polish to spice things up. The red sole became his signature: “People talked about ‘Louboutin red’ even before I decided to do beauty…The red sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to nails what the shoe took from the nails many years ago,” he says.
As you might guess, the most important color of his new nail polish collection is the “Rouge Louboutin,” pictured throughout. It’s like the perfect French girl red. Two coats look and feel like shellac: strong, shiny and just right. The weapon-like handle actually makes application easier and gives you more control. declare this new red my go-to Fashion Week nail color, on both nails and toes. Red is ideal for FW because my uniform is basically all black and white anyway, so this class Louboutin pop of color will certainly elevate my look.
While the Rouge Louboutin is the obvious go-to, there are 30 additional colors in the collection, all inspired by iconic Louboutin shoes and grouped in three families of 10: The Pops, The Noirs and The Nudes. They’re all amazing.
The 31-piece nail collection took three years to make and come at $50 a pop. It may sound pricey, but boy it’s worth it! Sure, sure, I am not going to go out there and buy each and every color…BUT I think this could be the perfect birthday gift for the beauty loving girl, a luxe stocking stuffer, a fab surprise for a special occasion, or, if you are like me, a perfect treat for yourself.
I think that every girl needs just one, especially with fashion week on the horizon. I promise, it will make you happy. And less stressed. What more could you want?
